about

First off, thank you so much for swinging by to check out our blog!  My name is Alexis and I am loving the simple life in Southern Colorado with my hubby, baby girl, sweet dog and wild cats.  I post many pictures of our serene surroundings, along with experiences from my training to become a cowgirl, and most recently things I'm doing around the home as I care for our new baby girl.

Just a little history on us... Dave and I were living in Denver in the Summer of 2010 when I convinced him it was high time we move to my hometown - something I had always dreamed of.  I proceeded to quit my job at a hospitality design firm, which was bittersweet because I loved my co-workers so, and Dave was lucky enough to keep his position doing computer "stuff" and work from home.  We packed our bags and moved into a 100+ year old cabin on the family ranch.  I started this blog to share our adventures.

Sadly, in May of 2011, we lost our cabin and most importantly two precious cats in a house fire.  We were devastated but were more overwhelmed by the support of our family, friends and community as we restarted life.  Our decor is still on the rebound and will likely be featured here often as we finesse our new (to us) ranch bungalow.

In May of 2012 we were blessed with the birth of Elly - although she was 10-1/2 weeks early - and provided us a scary start to parenthood we were overjoyed to bring her home in July 2012.  Along this journey we met several dear friends who will always be close to our hearts.  Everyday I am reminded of the tiny angel we were given by God and am so happy to be staying home with her now.

So please enjoy my ramblings on our journey as we return to our "ranch roots".
