friendship.

During our long stay in NICU we met many amazing people.  The nurses, doctors and other staff at the hospital were just wonderful but the friendship we made with baby Carter and his awesome parents, Sandy and Nick, was such a blessing!  It has been so nice to have close friends that live in our bizarre world of hibernation, germ anxiety and life after welcoming a micro preemie.

Unfortunately there is a five hour car ride that separates us but we trade pictures, cute stories and developments in the babies over text messages.  I can't say how special and important this has been to me over the last several months.  Elly literally lights up when she sees a new photo or video of Carter.  I distract her with these when she's fussy too!

We made an insanely fast trip to Denver in mid-February and squeezed in a little reunion.  It was so fun to see them interact with each other!  Here's my favorite picture from the occasion.  I look forward to watching our miracle babies and their friendship continue to grow!
